6/13 - Long hike from Zurich to Rapperswil

Excited for a beautiful day-hike we met me at 8:30 in Zurich-Forch, a short train ride from Zurich mid-town. With nothing but a small pack with a picnick, water and a light jacket we started of hiking on a slight uphill through some wonderful woods and fields. At about midpoint of our Explorathon we climbed up the look-out on Mount Pfannenstiel to enjoy 360-views of the entire North-Easter Region of Switzerland - Wow! At the nearby restaurant we made a quick pit-stop for  Coffee and Tea before continuing our journey.  Lunch was had on one of Switzerland's many red benches, with a view over Lake Zurich. Walking through quaint towns and hill-scapes we stopped a couple hours later at Lake Lützelsee for a well deserved ice cream :-) From here it was mostly downhill to Rapperswil-Kempraten, where we hopped on the train back to Zurich. Alternatively we could have walked down to the lake and boarded the ship for the 2-hr ride from Rapperswil back to Zurich. Wonderfully satisfying this long (22k), but fairly easy one-way hike :-)
